The decision to open the School to pupils in Years 7 and 8 followed lengthy consideration and consultation. A three-form entry of Lower Third (Year 7) pupils will be admitted in September 2016, and a full cohort of Lower and Upper Third (Year 7 and 8 pupils), with three forms in each year group, from September 2017.
It is envisaged that the majority of pupils will still transfer into the School at 13+ and St John’s will continue to work closely with preparatory schools that offer Common Entrance at Year 8.
The Lower School will be an integral part of the St John’s community.

The Headmaster, Martin Collier, commented, ‘This is a very exciting development for St John’s. We look forward to welcoming boys and girls into the Lower School in September 2016 and to providing them with an imaginative curriculum, outstanding pastoral care and a first-class all-round education.'
