Over 150 preparatory school musicians joined forces to make this year’s St John’s Prep Schools’ Orchestral Play Day a huge success.
The visiting pupils had a fun and productive day. Spurred on by an exciting and varied repertoire, including Peter and the Wolf and the Radetsky March, the young musicians blended and unified their sound, which resulted in a splendid performance at the end of the day in front of their parents. “This year was one of the largest orchestras we have had and also one of the best. All the musicians did themselves and their schools proud,” said Nick Smith, Director of Music at St John’s. This is one of the most popular preparatory school music events on the circuit and it highlights the quality of music that is being taught in our feeder schools.
