On Monday 17 November, in a pocket of warm and glorious sunshine between periods of heavy rain, St John’s welcomed four U9 rugby sides from nearby preparatory schools for a friendly day of rugby.
The aim of the day was to give the young players a chance to get back into rugby at the start of their season and, for some, an introduction to the contact nature of the sport. With no trophy to play for, all sides were able to play the game for enjoyment and development without the pressure of the outcome.
Pupils from Cranmore, Feltonfleet, Danes Hill and Lanesborough schools all left St John’s as better rugby players and had a thoroughly enjoyable day together in the school playing fields.
