The School’s senior cricketers received a welcome surprise on attending training last week, when former England fast bowler and Ashes winner Matthew Hoggard paid the players a visit!
Hoggard, who has 280 international wickets, spent time talking to and coaching the young fast bowlers, and gave each player some things to work on in the coming months.
David Hammond, Head of Cricket at St John’s, said “It was a fantastic experience for the boys to learn from one of England’s finest bowlers, and I’m sure they will remember this day for a long time. This session is just part of the winter training schedule that the St John’s players are part of and I am confident that these kinds of experiences will prove to be invaluable during the busy season ahead.”
