England U18 Rugby Coach

The Head of Rugby at St John’s, Mr Roberts, has received the ultimate accolade by being appointed coach to the England Counties’ U18 rugby side. The programme, which begins in October, culminates in a tri-nations tournament with international matches against France and Ireland, which next year takes place in Ireland at the start of the Easter holidays. Mr Roberts is a level 3 coach, who has been coaching the London and South East U18 side for the past four years.

“I am absolutely delighted to be appointed to the role. I know that it will develop me as a coach and in turn enhance rugby at St John’s. I am very much looking forward to next season and beyond, as I feel that St John’s is about to embark on a very exciting time for the sport. There will be an added buzz as England host the 2015 World Cup and hopefully there will be an OJ in George Kruis involved. Not only are there some terrific players coming through the School, but we are aiding them to be the best they can be with added investment in strength and conditioning, medical and nutrition, to name a few of the projects that we have on the go. It will be a very proud moment to coach an England team and I would not be surprised to see a few more follow in the footsteps of George Kruis.”
