A pupil in the Upper Sixth has recently been offered a conditional place to read Natural Sciences at St John’s College, Cambridge. His achievement is considerable, because Natural Sciences is the most prestigious course at Cambridge and St John’s is a first class college.

George, who is currently studying for A levels in Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics and Biology, said that he was particularly attracted to this course because, in contrast to courses at most other universities, it would enable him to pursue his studies in all the sciences without specialising immediately. Delighted with the offer, George said ‘it is science that captivates me and I really want to pursue a course at university that continues to feed my scientific curiosity while developing and testing my academic abilities to the limit’.
