We are pleased to announce that a St John’s pupil has been awarded a prestigious engineering scholarship from the Arkwright Scholarships Trust.
Harry Butler (Lower Sixth, West House), has been awarded the two year scholarship after a rigorous and competitive selection process which included a two hour aptitude exam and an interview by a panel of professionals at Imperial College, London.
As well as a variety of enrichment opportunities, Harry will receive £600 to assist with his studies and his understanding of architecture or engineering. He will be assigned a sponsor for the duration of his scholarship, which commences in September 2015.
The Arkwright Scholarships trust is a charity that inspires and nurtures future leaders in engineering and technical design. Since 2007, 18 St John’s pupils have been awarded the scholarship. Head of Design and Technology at St John’s Jason Ward commented on the achievement: “This is a fantastic achievement on Harry’s part. The scholarship is intended to support him during his Sixth Form studies and in his ambition to study architecture at university.”
