Seventeen pupils from St John's put their leadership and resilience to the test during the summer break, taking part in a week-long course at the Ridgway Adventure School in the wilds of Scotland.
Designed to nurture and promote self-reliance along with a better understanding of the environment, this course used the remote and beautiful landscape of Ardmore to put the team through their paces. Pupils undertook a challenging two day mountain expedition with two nights of wild camping and spent a day sea kayaking and exploring Loch Laxford towards the open Atlantic coastline. Rock climbing, abseiling and survival skills ensured there was never a dull moment during the week.
Trip Leader Nick Smith said: “All pupils responded well to the challenges and gained a greater insight into how to improve their powers of leadership. Regardless as to what challenges they faced, they worked together as a team and showed considerable promise for the future.”
