The School’s annual OJ Dinner on Friday 9 October was a great success, with over 80 Old Johnians returning to St John’s for the event.
OJs of all ages flooded the School’s Dining Hall for the dinner, following a drinks reception in the Old Chapel and a short recital on the new Chapel organ by Simon Bland, Assistant Director of Music and organist extraordinaire.
Major General Malcolm Hunt must be thanked for his after-dinner speech, where he regaled a number of entertaining anecdotes comparing St John’s past and present, and reciting a brilliantly funny poem to his contemporaries.
Development Officer at St John’s, Jessica Mott, commented: “It was a fantastic evening. OJ Committee Chairman Nick Donlevy did a great job as announcer for the evening, and it was wonderful to hear the announcement that an OJ present at the dinner, Jon Tapster (Ch’84), recently took part in the World Long Range Championships at Camp Perry in America, and after four days of intensive shooting, ended up 4th in the world. All in all, it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening, and we are very much looking forward to the next big event for Old Johnians.”
Photos of the evening can be viewed in the OJ Dinner 2015 Photo Gallery.
