St John’s School has been included in The Cricketer magazine's guide to the sport's Top 100 Schools for 2016.
The list was compiled from an original proposal of over 450 schools across the length and breadth of the UK and includes schools that have made considerable investments in improving facilities, coaching and dedicated time in the pursuit of cricketing excellence.
At St John’s, a training programme runs throughout the winter months for all cricketers, providing a great opportunity for players to continue honing their skills out of season. The School's U15 side will also be touring Dubai during the Easter break in 2016. It is these kind of opportunities that allow the St John’s cricketers to really develop their game and be best prepared for the Summer Term. The School’s aim is to provide cricketers of all ages and abilities with the chance to take part and represent St John’s. At the elite level, pupils are encouraged to play and have the chance to represent their county, region or country.
Head of Cricket at St John’s David Hammond commented: “After an extremely successful season, it is a privilege to be recognised by The Cricketer as an institution with talent in the sport. Building on the success of our junior teams, we are confident that cricket at St John's is in safe hands.”
