The School is delighted to announce that one of our Sixth Form pupils has accepted a place at the University of Cambridge for September 2016.
Sophie Evans (Upper Sixth, South House) received an offer to study at the university’s Gonville and Caius College, where she will read Modern and Medieval Languages.
Sophie has excelled at St John’s, playing for the 1st XI girls’ hockey team for the last three years, volunteering as a carer for the St John’s School Community Holiday, and achieving the rank of company sergeant major in the army section of the School’s CCF contingent.
Sophie said: ‘It was a challenging process but I am very excited to pursue my ambition of becoming fluent in both French and Spanish at Cambridge. I am really grateful to the School, particularly the Languages Department for all of their help with my application.'
Headmaster Martin Collier added: ‘St John’s prides itself on offering an all-round education that extends well beyond the classroom. We are extremely proud of Sophie and of what she has achieved here. We wish her well with her studies.’
