Swimming to victory

One of the School’s best young swimmers has triumphed at the Surrey Swimming Championships, competing in 12 individual events and three team events over the past four weekends.

Ben Simpson (Lower Fifth, West House) achieved new personal bests in a number of sections, winning handfuls of medals and ribbons along the way.

Individually, Ben achieved one gold medal, three silver medals and one bronze medal, as well as six ‘top 8 finalist’ ribbons.  Along with his team, he gained an additional two silver medals and a bronze.

Ben is now ranked 5th in Britain for the 50m breaststroke in his age category.

Assistant Director of Sport (Lower School) Kerry Walsh commented: ‘This is outstanding news, and a testament to Ben’s hard work and dedication in the swimming pool. He has worked exceptionally hard in recent weeks and months, and we are very proud of him indeed.’
