The School was thrilled to welcome esteemed international cricketers and ex-Ashes winners Chris Tremlett and Geraint Jones MBE, and OJ star cricketer David Balcombe to St John’s last Saturday, for a special cricket dinner in aid of the cricket pavilion refurbishment.
After a delicious three-course meal, the cricketers took part in a Q & A session where amongst other things they entertained guests with stories of their fellow cricketers as well as giving advice for aspiring cricket stars and sharing their thoughts on the state of test match cricket.
Bidding was fierce for some fabulous items in the auction which followed, including a framed and signed shirt by Ian Botham and Shane Warne, a pair of Kevin Pietersen’s signed boots, work experience at Deloitte, a golf day at Tyrrells Wood and a family portrait session at Barrett & Co Photography, Leatherhead. The School is very grateful to everyone who donated the items and which helped to raise more than £2,000 for the pavilion.
A big thank you to everyone who came and supported the cricket at St John’s and who helped to make the evening such an enjoyable success.
