One of the School’s year 7 pupils has gained a place in the prestigious London Youth Wind Band after a successful audition before the half term break.
Isabella Mackie will play the oboe in the band, and will be one of the group’s youngest musicians. The band holds two concerts each year, and Isabella will take part in a week-long music course during the 2017 February half term in the lead up to the next concert.
As well as the London Youth Wind Band, Isabella sings in the Lower School choir, and is the only Lower School pupil to be part of the St John’s Sinfonia. She will also form one quarter of the School’s newest ensemble, a wind quartet.
Isabella commented: “I’m really pleased to have a place in the London Youth Wind Band. I also take recorder and oboe lessons at the Royal College of Music and play in some ensembles there, and I would love to become part of the London Schools Symphony Orchestra in the future.”
