The School’s swimmers excelled once again at the Secondary Schools' Team Championships, making their mark at the London Aquatics Centre on Saturday 19 November.
The St John’s medley relay team, composed of Ben Simpson, Tom Stansfield, Tom Shepherd and Matthew Thomas, finished 12th in their heat, finishing as second reserves for the final. In the freestyle relay, Bruce McCormick took Matthew’s place to swim the third length, and the boys finished 13th.
The boys’ team coach and Teacher of Biology at St John’s, Catie Moon, commented: “This is a huge achievement considering all boys are 15 and 16 years of age and swimming against 18 year olds; many of whom swim for team GB. It will be no surprise if in a year or two, this young team becomes one of the top three in the country.”
