Sophie Tait has been selected amongst a host of other hopefuls for a place on the shortlist for the England Hockey team, bringing her one step closer to securing a spot on the team. The shortlist has been narrowed from 38 down to 28, after trials in October which involved four days of highly competitive and gruelling matches.
Sophie and the other candidates will proceed to summer trials with decisions on the playing team being finalised in summer 2017 when the team will be announced. England assessors will be attending the summer games, raising the pressure to perform.
Unsurprisingly, Sophie is thrilled to have come this far. "I've worked on my game for a long time, and the effort is finally paying off!"
Lauren Moors, Director of Sport at St John's commented, "We are extremely proud of Sophie's achievement. Sophie has shown true determination and commitment to get where she is and it is testament to her character that she has been selected. She is a true credit to St John's."
