Tomás McMahon (Lower Sixth, Surrey) recently had a Manga comic on display at the Japanese Embassy. The Manga competition is an annual event held by the Embassy, and this year's theme was of ‘Sights of Japan’. Many entrants were professionals and obviously had use of some impressive drawing packages to create beautiful and intricate designs. Tomás used the more traditional method of cartooning, drawing and inking by hand.
The entry was entitled 'The subtle differences between bullying and a microwave oven'. It tells told the story of a water molecule in human form being tormented by bullying while, in parallel, being excited to the point of destruction in a microwave. While the story doesn't have a happy ending, it gives the viewer much to ponder on.
