British Show Pony success

Lower Third pupil Kate Hewson is hoping to qualify for the Royal International Horse show where she was the champion in 2016. Kate will also be competing at major shows including Royal Windsor, Surrey county show and Horse of the Year show.

Kate has recently found success at the British Show Pony Society (BSPS) Area 14 Winter show, winning the novice and open first ridden mountain and moorland pony classes. She then won the mini M&M championship. Kate has been competing since the end of 2014.

When asked about the challenges of the sport, Kate commented: "The time it takes to prepare and travel to shows. Sometimes I am in the ring at 8am for classes after a long journey or after camping in the lorry overnight. At the big shows, fairground marching bands can also scare the ponies."
