Lower School pupil Filip Lissah recently took part in the Premier League National Futsal Tournament finals as part of Chelsea Football Club's U12 Academy.
In the pre-tournament qualifier, the ten best players were selected to compete against other sides for a place in the finals. Chelsea were successful, so the Team progressed to the finals in Birmingham against eight other qualifying teams. After two elimination rounds, Chelsea made it to the final against Sunderland. The final was tense and fierce, but in the end, Sunderland prevailed, and Chelsea took the silver.
Filip has been playing for Chelsea since he was scouted at the age of 4 at his local football training club. He currently trains three times per week and plays once a week. Filip has played for Chelsea in France, Portugal, Italy and all over the UK.
Filip said "I love playing football. The excitement of the games and the buzz at tournaments is thrilling". When asked what position he liked to play he commented "Right back or centre because I am good at it, but also because it is the last line of defence to ensure the team does not concede. The defence can let down an entire game and team, so I like to keep it strong".
