During the Easter holiday 17 language pupils from St John's visited Berlin to gain a deeper understanding of German language and history.
The pupils stayed with host families where they could practice German conversational skills, try local food, and learn about day to day life in another country.
They had 3 hours of language classes each morning with a local teacher, and afternoon activities included a city tour with a visit to the Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate, a trip up the TV tower, and a stop off at Berlin Cathedral.
The pupils also took a sobering journey through history in the Berlin underworld learning about the bunkers from WW2 and the horrors faced during the conflict at the Jewish Museum.
The pupils finished their stay with an excursion to Tropical Island Theme Park housed in the former airship hangar, a reward for all their hard work on the trip.
