Joe shines playing for Chelsea

Fourth Form pupil Joe Haigh enjoyed a hugely successful Easter break playing football for Chelsea in three tournaments. The first tournament which Joe played in was the International U14 Youth Tournament which was held in Sorrento. Other teams in the competition included some of the great names of Italian football: AC Milan, Lazio, Bari and Napoli.

Joe’s Chelsea side won their group but were knocked out of the tournament in the semi-final by AC Milan. The competition was a personal triumph for Joe; not only was he the tournament’s second highest scorer (with three goals) but he was also named ‘Player of the Tournament’.

Joe’s busy Easter did not end there. He played for Chelsea in an U14 Premier League Invitation Tournament at Warwick, the highlight of which was a 4-1 victory against Bayern Munich. The following  weekend Joe travelled to Rotterdam to play for the Chelsea U15 team in the Rotterdam Cup; yet again Chelsea reached the semi-final and lost, this time to Club Brugge. What a great way for Joe to spend his holidays!
