Composer Competition

Alasdair Wilson, Fourth Form, Montgomery House, began composing in 2016. He has now reached the final of the Guildhall School of Music, Junior Department, composition competition with a string quartet. He has also sat two diplomas on the piano, a remarkable feat for someone of his age. He passed the first with a Distinction and is awaiting the results of the second.

Alasdair is a student at the Guildhall School of Music Junior Department; he began playing piano at the age of 5 and progressed quickly, achieving Grade 8 at 11 years old.

Alasdair had his first cello lesson on his 9th birthday and within 18 months had taken Grade 6. He started Junior Guildhall as a cellist in May 2016.

He began classical composition inspired by his favourite composer, Mozart. His work was selected by his teacher to enter the competition. He has taken the ARSM Associate Diploma and the ABRSM Diploma in London. We wish him the best of luck and congratulations.
