The curriculum at St John’s is regularly reviewed and updated, not only to reflect changes to GCSE and A level qualifications but, more importantly, to ensure it is relevant and engaging for our pupils. This drives our agenda in all discussions regarding the curriculum.
We offer breadth in the lower years of the School and demand excellence throughout. We believe an education at St John’s is a preparation for life beyond the A level courses and so the non-examined subjects are viewed with equal importance.
Proposals for the new A level qualifications prioritise the following skills: researching, finding sources, essay writing, problem solving, analysis and critical thinking. At St John’s, from Fourth Form with our innovative Think! programme, right up to Sixth Form with our tailor-made iP (independent Project) programme, we nurture such skills and build links across the different disciplines.
