Academic Staff Vacancies

Director of Performing Arts

Required for January 2019 or as soon as possible, a well-qualified, creative and inspiring teacher to enhance and maintain the profile of the School’s performance music and drama and coordinate staff from the Music and Drama departments to aid the delivery of the co-curricular music and drama provisions. The successful applicant should have experience in delivering both performance music and performance drama to a high level and be able to plan and organise a stimulating repertoire of events. The appointed teacher will also be expected to contribute to the pastoral and co-curricular life of the School.

Support Staff Vacancies

Minibus Driver

Monday – Friday, 6.00am – 9.00am and 5.00pm – 8.00pm (30 hours per week)

Term time only (34 weeks a year)

St John’s School requires an experienced driver to join our sites team and transport pupils to and from the School via given pick-up points and to assist with site duties as required. A full clean UK driving licence with category D1 (101), held for more than 3 years is essential and a full category D1 and/or PCV licence is desirable. The post holder will have confident driving skills, communication skills and will be reliable and punctual. Previous work of a similar nature or in a school environment is desirable.

Day House Matron

28.75 hours per week, 35.5 weeks per annum (term time plus specified days)

We require a responsible and committed Matron to work closely with the Day Housemaster to ensure the general well-being and supervision of all the pupils within the boys’ house. Candidates will be friendly and able to work using their own initiative to ensure the smooth running of the house. Duties include pastoral care of pupils and administration under the direction of the Housemaster, as well as supervising the cleaning of the house. Applicants should be enthusiastic and approachable with a good knowledge of school life. Previous experience of working with children, strong communication and organisational skills and good IT skills are essential.

Administration Assistant – Admissions, Communications and Development

35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, year round

The School requires an enthusiastic administrator to support the day-to-day running of the admissions, communication and development departments. Duties will include assisting with events, management of databases and general administration. These are busy, interesting departments which require an enthusiastic approach.  The successful candidate will be able to work well as part of a team and use their initiative to be proactive when working autonomously.  A flexible and organised approach to work is essential, as is a high level of IT proficiency, excellent attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills.

Salad Chef

30 hours a week, 36 weeks per annum 

The School is seeking to appoint a friendly, hard-working and committed individual to join our existing catering team in preparing salads, light buffets and sandwiches to pupils and staff. The postholder will be required to assist with placing orders and be responsible for the cleanliness, hygiene and HACCP regulation for the salad section. Proven experience of working in a catering environment is highly desirable and the opportunity to contribute to salad menu construction welcomed.
