Musical success at St John’s

The musicians from St John’s have gone from strength to strength so far this term, with a number of pupils passing musical examinations. 15 pupils passed exams, and were awarded certificates in singing, the piano and double bass.

Pupils also excelled at the School’s annual singing competition, where the quality of singing was universally high. Prizes were awarded in the intermediate and senior sections, with Richard Kenyon (Fourth Form, West) and Andrew Terrafranca (Upper Sixth, West) winning first place respectively.

The School’s schola cantorum was also out in force, and performed during the half term break with an evensong in Hereford Cathedral. The Headmaster, who attended the evensong, commented, “The evensong performance of the schola was quite outstanding. This is not surprising given the current quality of the musicianship at St John’s.”
