My St John's

The St John’s swimming team has gone from strength to strength in recent years, and is now very competitive. We run a girls’ team and a boys’ team for all age groups. The main swimming term is the summer term, when there are weekly Saturday fixtures and occasional weekday fixtures. We especially look forward to competing against Epsom College, which is always a very exciting and evenly matched gala, with St John’s very narrowly beating the opposition twice in the last three years. We also enter the Surrey Schools’ Individual and Relay Championships each year, where we usually pick up a number of medals.

St John’s has its own swimming pool, and a number of qualified lifeguards / swimming coaches, who draw on a wealth of experience competing in the sport themselves. We offer pupils the opportunity to train all year round, including some before- and after-school sessions from an external coach.

In addition to fixtures, we also have an annual sponsored swim: this year the swimming team collaboratively swam the distance from St John's School to France, totalling 107.3 miles! We also run an annual House Swimming event and the occasional friendly water polo fixture. Both recreational and team standard swimmers are catered for in swimming sessions. All we ask for is enthusiasm for the sport.
